Work experience candidates join Britannia Music site team in Ilford

This week we welcomed six work experience candidates at our Britannia Music Site (BMS) in Ilford.

Working in partnership with Havering College and the London Borough of Redbridge the candidates, all from the local area, were selected on their potential to join Durkan’s apprenticeship scheme.

Each candidate will work at the BMS site in a variety of roles for two weeks after which they will be interviewed for four apprenticeship places, based at the site, covering carpentry, bricklaying, plumbing and electrician services.

Kevin O’Connor, Head of Social Responsibility and Inclusion at Durkan said ‘Durkan see real value in working partnerships with our subcontractors, and ambitious councils like Redbridge to create fantastic career opportunities for all sections of the community. We look forward to welcoming at least four new apprentices into the industry at the BMS project – and hopefully many more!’

The BMS development is at the heart of London Borough of Redbridge’s regeneration of Ilford Town Centre. It will feature 354 new homes in a mix of one, two and three bedroom apartments in a range of blocks including a 24 storey tower.
